Welcome to Xi-Xi
Best Above the Rest
Modern day Kappa Sigma was founded on the night of December 10, 1869, as five students of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville gathered at 46 East Lawn and planted the seed of Brotherhood. For many weeks the bonds of friendship had drawn these five together, that night their relationship culminated in the creation of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Thus, not only did the Founders formalize their friendship, but they also created a fraternity steeped in the traditions of the past and dedicated to the Pursuit of Learning. The new brothers recorded their bond in a Constitution and in an Oath that set forth the ideals and principles to all Kappa Sigmas today.
The Xi-Xi chapter of Marquette is an extension of the values established by the national Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In its short history at Marquette, Xi-Xi has become a model chapter for Greek life on Marquette's campus, and has been recognized at a local and national level for its outstanding example of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. The brothers of Xi-Xi are some of the most respectable members on campus and serve as role models not only in the Marquette Community, but also in the greater Milwaukee Area.
The Star and Crescent shall not be worn by every man, but only by him who is worthy to wear it. He must be a gentleman... a man of honor and courage... a man of zeal, yet humble... an intelligent man...a man of truth... one who tempers action with wisdom and, above all else, one who walks in the light of God.
